By Anushka Singh
The construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh is progressing at a rapid pace. The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, which is overseeing the construction of the temple, has stated that the construction is on track to be completed on time.
The ground floor work is scheduled to be finished in November while 50 per cent of the first floor pillars have been completed. The Ram Temple is scheduled to be inaugurated in January 2024.
The trust has also announced that the consecration ceremony of the temple will be held on January 21-23, 2024. The trust plans to invite over 25,000 Hindu religious leaders from 136 Sanatan traditions for the consecration ceremony.

In addition to the 25,000 saints who will attend the consecration ceremony, there will also be 10,000 "special guests".
The Ram Temple is being built on the site where the 16th-century Babri Masjid mosque once stood, which was demolished by Hindu activists in 1992, sparking communal riots across the country.
In its verdict on 9 November 2019, the Supreme Court paved the way for the construction of a Ram Temple by a trust at the disputed site in Ayodhya and directed the Centre to allot an alternative five-acre plot to the Sunni Waqf Board for building a new mosque at a “prominent” place in the holy town.

The construction of the Ram Temple has been a long-standing demand of the Hindu community and a core agenda of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The temple is expected to boost the religious tourism and the economy of Ayodhya, which is considered to be the birthplace of Lord Ram, one of the most revered deities in Hinduism.
UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered officials to beautify Ayodhya and provide state-of-the-art urban amenities ahead of the inauguration. The temple will have a grand design with five domes, 360 pillars and a 161-feet-tall shikhar (spire).
The temple will also have replicas of the Ram temple, which are attracting attention from the devotees and tourists.
