On December 10, 2023, Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh unveiled a 10-foot statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Gandhi Darshan near Rajghat, Delhi, hailing it as a fitting tribute to the Father of the Nation. Singh underscored Gandhi's pivotal role in India's freedom struggle and dedication to uplifting the marginalised.

Drawing parallels between Gandhi's vision and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's governance, Singh highlighted initiatives like Jan Dhan Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, and Swachh Bharat as embodying Gandhi's ideals.

Singh emphasised the enduring influence of Mahatma Gandhi, asserting his presence in every Indian's heart and inspiring global leaders like Martin Luther King Jr. and Nelson Mandela. Reflecting on the contributions of revolutionaries such as Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Deendayal Upadhyay, Singh positioned them as guiding lights for the government's 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' vision, rooted in peace, social harmony, and development.

Addressing economic progress, Singh portrayed Gandhi not just as a freedom fighter but also an economic thinker, quoting Gandhi's belief in sufficiency over greed. He credited the government's focus on planned progress for India's ascent to the world's fifth-largest economy. Singh stressed empowerment of weaker sections, highlighting their increasing presence in various sectors, including the establishment of an industry chamber for them.

The Minister celebrated the transformative journey of women, from being labeled as "Abla" to embracing "Shakti." He lauded their roles in politics and the armed forces, citing the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam as a step toward ensuring political rights. Singh reiterated the government's commitment to honesty and dedication, viewing it as the true homage to Mahatma Gandhi and a pledge to propel the nation to greater heights.

The Raksha Mantri reaffirmed the government's dedication to serving the people with integrity and diligence, echoing the principles upheld by Mahatma Gandhi. This commitment, he stated, is not only a testament to the values ingrained in the nation's foundation but also a sincere tribute to the enduring legacy of the Father of the Nation.

Singh conveyed a vision of inclusive progress, where the government continues to prioritize the welfare of all citizens, irrespective of background or gender. This commitment, he asserted, is integral to realising Mahatma Gandhi's dream of a strong, prosperous, and harmonious India.
