Traffic Curbs in MP to Ease Maha Kumbh Rush

By A Draft Correspondent

Hundreds of vehicles en route to Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh are being halted batch-wise in Madhya Pradesh to manage heavy traffic and prevent overcrowding, officials confirmed. The move has successfully ensured the smooth flow of pilgrims into Prayagraj.

Since Friday night, north-bound vehicles, primarily carrying devotees, have been allowed to proceed only with clearance from Uttar Pradesh authorities. Large numbers of vehicles from Maharashtra and southern states have been stopped in Katni, Maihar, and Rewa on Madhya Pradesh.

Authorities have implemented traffic control measures at key points like Chakghat, where vehicles are being regulated to ensure smooth movement. "There has been a surge in traffic over the past two days, and we are allowing vehicles to pass gradually with Prayagraj administration’s approval," said Rewa range DIG Saket Prakash Pandey.

To avoid congestion, travelers have been advised to return in some areas. Reports indicate that stranded vehicles on National Highway 30 are being released in batches of 100-200. Meanwhile, local police have been directed to halt vehicles on the Maihar-Chitrakoot route as necessary.

Despite long delays, many devotees remain cooperative. "Food arrangements for those stuck in jams have been adequate, and people should support the administration," said Vishal Joshi, a Mumbai resident travelling from Ghatkopar.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation, ensuring traffic is streamlined as vehicles inch towards Prayagraj for the grand event.
