In the vibrant city of La Plata, Argentina, Alejandra Marisa RodrÃguez has made history. At the age of 60, this accomplished lawyer and seasoned journalist won the Miss Universe Buenos Aires pageant, shattering norms and redefining beauty.
RodrÃguez’s journey to the crown was challenging, competing against some contestants barely out of their teens. Yet, her resolve and desire to represent her generation propelled her forward. Today, she is a contender for the Miss Argentina title, a stepping stone to the international Miss Universe competition.
Her victory is a groundbreaking stride for beauty pageants globally. It aligns with the progressive announcement made by the Miss Universe Organization in September 2023, declaring that from 2024 onwards, age restrictions on contestants would be lifted, allowing for a more inclusive and diverse representation of beauty.

RodrÃguez expressed her delight in representing a broader spectrum of values beyond physical attractiveness. Her triumph underscores that beauty and competence are not confined to any particular age group.
Before her pageant victory, RodrÃguez had a successful career in journalism and law. She served as a legal advisor for a hospital, exemplifying the resilience one can muster to break down barriers and redefine conventional notions of beauty and age.
RodrÃguez’s historic win is inspiring. She has shattered stereotypes and instigated a shift in the landscape of beauty pageants. Her story encourages women of all ages to chase their dreams, unfettered by societal norms and expectations.
Born on November 27, 1964, in Brandsen, Buenos Aires, Argentina, RodrÃguez spent her childhood between Brandsen and La Plata. From an early age, she showed a penchant for beauty pageants. At the age of 7, she competed in a beauty contest in La Plata and was crowned the first princess.
After high school, RodrÃguez studied at the Faculty of Journalism and Communication at UNLP, Argentina. Later, she earned her law degree from the National University of La Plata, Argentina, and served as a legal advisor for a hospital under the Ministry of Health of the Province of Buenos Aires.
RodrÃguez’s journey from a young beauty pageant contestant to a successful journalist and lawyer, and finally to a beauty queen, is a testament to her belief that age is just a number, and that it’s never too late to pursue your dreams.
The Miss Universe organisation made headlines last year when it declared the removal of age restrictions for pageant contestants. Starting this year, women of all ages over 18 are eligible to compete, whereas previously, only women aged 18 to 28 were allowed to enter the pageant.
Adding to the buzz is 47-year-old Haidy Cruz, a beauty pageant contestant who will be representing the Dominican Republic in the Miss Universe 2024 competition.
