First US city to ban 'caste' discrimination
The United States Of America has finally caught up. A resolution moved by Kshama Sawant was approved by the Seattle City Council making Seattle the first US city to outlaw caste discrimination.
Caste has, for the first time, been added to its non-discrimination policy.
Equality Labs, the brain behind the anti-caste discrimination resolution in Seattle and which has been spearheading a nationwide campaign said: Love has won over hate as Seattle has become the first in the nation to ban caste discrimination.
The change in policy, however late, must be replicated across USA now...and soon.
Change in practice will take time, probably years, as to bring mindsets in sync with a change in law takes a lot more than mere insertions in policy lists.
